(* denotes that I saw it in theater.)

Not as many as I saw last year, but still a substantial amount that makes me happy. Thanks to all who made watching these possible! From drive-in movies to goofy dates, dealing with my sobbing emotions and sneaking snacks into the theater, the people who watched these with me are incredible and mean even more to me than these stellar films.

(my funny valentine)

Yesterday was Valentine's Day, so happy belated Valentine's Day!

Now, I know that Valentine's Day is labeled as a "hallmark" and "commercial" holiday... but I also think it can be whatever you make it. (You don't have to be extravagant and spend gobs of money on it, you don't have to celebrate it on February 14, and you don't have to make it about romance.) I'm a sucker for celebrating life, so I like holidays of all varieties for this very reason.

So anyway, here's what I've been up to the past couple of days:

Luke and I celebrated Valentine's Day the day before actual Valentine's Day, because Monday is Girls Night. (duh!)

To celebrate, I packed the two of us a picnic and we went for a winter walk and picnic. It was a lot of fun! Among other things we also enjoyed eating pizza, playing nintendo, watching a bad movie, and drinking champagne. I really love Luke Dennison, and having him in my life is an utter blessing.

[This is a funny piece of litter I noticed on our walk.]

[I made Nutella cupcakes with a peanut butter frosting for our picnic.]

Monday night my house continued our recently started Girls Night. Right when we were in the middle of girly emotional chick-flickness, we got a knock on our door and it was Ben N! He was dressed up dapper as could be to deliver our house red roses on behalf of other Ben (who is in D.C.) It was pretty dang adorable, and he brought Mary flowers even though she is all the way in York. It was quite a lovely little night.

[Star fruit!]

[Ben's roses for Mary.]

(on a winters sunday i go)

Hello all! I hope everyone has stayed strong through the mighty Blizzard of 2011 and that there have been enough cozy blankets, hot cocoa mugs and sleds to go around.

The first thing I would like to address is the new album by The Decemberists! Luke and I bought it last Thursday (thank you itunes gift card!) and first had the pleasure of listening to it on our long car ride back to Blissfield. I am very fond of it, and I highly encourage everyone to check out The King is Dead. All of the titles of my blog posts are song lyrics, and the title of this post is from a song from the album called January Hymn.

I haven't posted anything new since before interim break (though I try to put a little something up here daily). My interim break was just splendid, and included a trip to Ann Arbor with Anne and Luke, a delicious breakfast with the Dennison family, and just a lot of good family time at my parent's house too. Luke is all moved into his new house and has started his new job, and my semester is officially underway. I'm feeling good about it all so far...

Here are some photos from recent life adventures:

[We went to a martini bar in Ann Arbor.]

[When I saw there was a martini called the "Femme Fatale" I just had to get it! Film noir has taken over my life.]

[My parent's house was a little icy.]

[Me & Buster! I miss my dog when I'm in GR.]
